A few questions
you may have.
EV Decks & Gazebos comes to your property for the consultation. Have your ideas and questions ready—we’ll review the space with you.
Yes, replacing or changing an existing deck can be the starting point for the project, but the existing structure needs an on-site review. Visible decking, supports, connections and the desired new layout all affect what may be reusable. An expansion also changes how the deck connects to doors, steps and the yard. Explain what you dislike about the current deck rather than assuming the same footprint is the best replacement.
Begin with the furniture and activities you want to accommodate, then allow space to use them comfortably. A dining table needs room for chairs to pull out, and a grill or seating group should not block the route between the house and yard. Door locations, stairs and railings can reduce the usable area. During the consultation, compare the intended layout with your property before choosing dimensions based only on square footage.
Size, height, materials, structural requirements, railings and stairs all influence the estimate. Removing an old deck and reaching the work area may also add to the scope. Two decks with the same footprint can therefore involve very different work. Identify the features you must have and those you could treat as options so the proposed design and estimate reflect the way you plan to use the space.
Consider the appearance you prefer alongside cleaning, refinishing and long-term maintenance needs. Ask how the proposed material performs in the conditions at your property and what care its manufacturer recommends. Lower-maintenance materials still need cleaning and attention to the surrounding structure. Discuss the surface, railings and other visible components together so you understand both the finished look and the upkeep associated with the complete design.
The proposed height, footprint, attachment and location can affect the requirements that apply to a deck. Existing drainage, property boundaries and any association restrictions also belong in the planning discussion. Do not assume that replacing an older deck means the new work has no approval requirements. Have any available survey or association information ready, and confirm the applicable approvals and responsibilities before the construction plan is finalized.
For a deck at your Tomball home, identify the features you need now and any outdoor improvements you may consider later. A clear route to a future seating or cooking area can be discussed without assuming every idea belongs in the first project. Start with the furniture, doors and steps that must work immediately. Sharing the bigger picture along with your budget range helps focus the consultation on a useful first scope rather than a collection of disconnected ideas.
The EV Decks team visits your property for the consultation. Think about how you want to use the deck, which doors and yard areas it should connect, and what you want to change if a deck already exists. Have furniture dimensions or inspiration photos available if you have them, along with your questions, budget priorities and preferred timing. The team can review the actual space with you; a finished drawing is not required.
